Alexander Courage is the man behind the iconic Star Trek theme song. He was born in Philadelphia in 1919 and began his musical career playing the piano in nightclubs. He eventually became a arranger and orchestrator for film and television. He did the music for Star Trek, The Twilight Zone, Gunsmoke, and Dallas. He died in 2008.

While Alexander Courage is best known for his work on the original Star Trek series, he was not the only composer to work on the franchise. Jerry Goldsmith, another renowned composer, worked on Star Trek: The Motion Picture. He would go on to work on several other Star Trek movies, including Star Trek V: The Final Frontier andStar Trek: First Contact. Goldsmith also composed the music for such classic films as Alien, Poltergeist, and Chinatown.

James Horner- best known for his work on Titanic, but also did the music for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

He was best known for his work on the films of director James Cameron, for which he composed the scores for Titanic and Avatar, the highest and second-highest-grossing films of all time respectively. His other notable works include Aliens, Braveheart, A Beautiful Mind and Field of Dreams.

Horner won two Academy Awards, both for Titanic: Best Original Dramatic Score and Best Original Song for “My Heart Will Go On”.

Leonard Rosenman- worked on Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
