I was early that day, I had nothing to make, no one to meet
I was just going to watch the people walking up Buchanan Street
And sit on the steps the way we did before

Of course it wasn't the same, I had no one to talk to
Just strangers to nod at who would sometimes smile back at me
And I wondered if they felt pity towards me
